The NMPMFF have made significant operational and grant structure changes

"Big change, for focussed impact"

In July 2024 we outlined why the National Mikey Powell Memorial Family Fund (NMPMFF) would be making some significant changes to our grant making and related administrative systems in 2024.

Some reasons for the change relate to significant drops in donor income in recent years, meaning that we needed to manage our limited finance resources very carefully, as well as overhaul our administration systems that were previously time-intensive and thereby prolonged the application process for all parties.

We will be discontinuing the Family Support Fund for the foreseeable future, and encouraging families to make more use of our low-cost online Give-Back Shop for more generalised items (such as t-shirts, campaign banners, online communications, training and other services).

Our current core grant programmes are;

The Crisis Family Fund will now be our principal grant programme. Strict criteria will ensure that only those in genuine urgent need receive awards. The process will remain simple, with a quick turnaround. Administration for NMPMFF teams and Assessment Partners is minimal and there are no rigid expectations for successful applicants to provide formal feedback.

The Holiday Awards Fund application process has been made simpler for applicants, meaning individual families can apply. Strict criteria will ensure that the recently bereaved, children/young people affected by delayed trauma, re-emerged trauma etc, receive priority. There are no rigid expectations for successful applicants to provide formal feedback.

Grants to be reopened

We will reopen the Crisis and Holiday Fund grants in August 2024, and also introducing our LIVE Q&A sessions online.

We will continue to administer the UFFC Legacy Fund (in partnership with Migrant Media) while resources are available.
Assessment Partners

We have streamlined our partner members and will be seeking to invite a range of new partners over coming months.

The Assessment Partner support structure is crucial to the effective working of our grant programmes and other services.
