The free 24-hour telephone, text and online support and advice will be the key hub providing assistance for families affected by deaths or abuses in custody, or concerned about vulnerable relatives or friends in police, prison or immigration custody, or those held under the Mental Health Act.
Trained volunteer advisors will be on-hand initially 12 hours a day (and 24 hours a day after the first twelve months of operation) to offer basic advice/legal direction, support and signposting to anyone concerned about the welfare of loved ones that are held in some form of custody as defined above.
Red Alert HELP! already provides an interactive advice portal online. The portal consists of a type-recognition system that picks up on key search-words and presents answers or solutions to the query.
Prior to the launch of the advice line the portal will provide an important resource online that is available 24/7, 365 days per year, and frequently updated.
The initiative was initially supported by the Edge Fund in 2015.

We occasionally manage small grants on behalf of the United Families & Friends Campaign (UFFC) such as their Gift Fund or campaigning projects funding programmes.
