How the National Mikey Powell Memorial Family Fund application process works

We have three core funding programmes!

The Crisis Family Fund is generally open for urgent needs of affected families. The Holiday Fund and Family Support Fund open periodically for limited periods.
(All are dependent on available funds : Please Donate)

This fund makes a real difference for families and their campaign groups that need financial support during the often drawn out struggles for justice lasting for decades in many cases.

National Family Fund Summary

The fund is administered centrally by 4WardEverUK, with assessment partners located around the UK via campaigns and organisations such as Migrant Media, INQUEST, the Friends of Mikey Powell Campaign, Red Alert HELP! and others.

Who can apply?

An individual / representative / campaign group acting on behalf of family members and / or friends of someone that has died in suspicious circumstances either following police contact or custody, in prison, mental health or immigration institutions.

Potential applicants should note that their campaign groups must be active and financially independent of any private company or enterprise, funded organisation or registered charity to be eligible.

The Family Fund will not support applications from the following

Individuals not directly linked to an active or known campaign group

Campaign groups not made up of family members and / or friends of someone that has died in state custody

Organisations or groups already funded from some other source(s)

Individuals or campaign groups that have received a grant from the National Memorial Family Fund within the previous 4 months prior to a new application

Please Note: Further applications will be considered after the four month period has elapsed. This is to ensure that the limited resources of the National Family Fund can support as many families and campaign groups as possible.

In certain circumstances this condition will be wavered via the Crisis Family Fund in a highly critical time of need that a family or campaign group may find themselves in.
